Sepang International Circuit (SIC) aims to break its record for the largest number of spectators in the history of organizing the World Motorcycle Championship (MotoGP) with a target of 200,000 attendees from November 1 to 3, 2024.
SIC Chief Executive Officer Azhan Shafriman Hanif is confident that the growing excitement surrounding the MotoGP race, especially the intense battle for the world title, will attract a larger crowd of both domestic and international spectators to the iconic Malaysian circuit.
To mark this special occasion, several events are planned, including an “After Race” concert festival, which will coincide with Sepang’s 25th anniversary celebrations and Petronas’ 50th anniversary. These festivities aim to further boost attendance.
“This year is a special year as we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Sepang Circuit, and Petronas is also celebrating its 50th anniversary, while Dorna celebrates 75 years. So, to celebrate, we are organizing the After Race concert festival,” Azhan said at the Malaysian Grand Prix 2024 press conference.
With 50% of tickets already sold, SIC is offering a 25% discount in conjunction with Merdeka month, valid until September 20. The goal is to increase the total number of spectators from last year’s 182,912 to around 200,000, a 20,000 increase.
The After Race concert festival is set for November 3, featuring performances from Smash, Macklemore, Nidji, Feel Koplo, 6ixth Sense, and De Fam, with more artists to be announced in September.
