Tomislav Steinbruckner, the head coach of Terengganu FC, admitted that Akhyar Rashid’s participation in their first Shopee Cup 2024/25 group stage match against Cambodia’s Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng is uncertain due to a minor injury.
The match is scheduled for tomorrow, and Steinbruckner is keen to leverage the home advantage at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium to secure three crucial points for his team.
In a press conference, Steinbruckner expressed his concerns, stating, “Terengganu’s preparations are going as usual ahead of the first action of the Shopee Cup. However, we are facing a little problem related to Akhyar Rashid.” He added that they would assess Akhyar’s condition before making a final decision, which could result in the player starting on the bench.
Despite this challenge, the coach emphasized the importance of the tournament and noted that the rest of the squad is fully prepared. “The other players seem ready. Everyone knows how important this tournament is because it is a new competition,” Steinbruckner said.
Shopee Cup 2024/25 Group Stage, Group A match between Terengganu FC and Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng will kick off on August 21, 2024, at 9:00 pm at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak.
