Pau Marti Vicente’s appointment as the head coach of the Malaysia national team, following Kim Pan Gon’s departure, marks a significant moment for the national team.
Despite the high expectations set by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Vicente remains calm and confident, emphasizing that he is not under pressure.
His experience as an assistant coach and his involvement with various clubs and teams at different levels will undoubtedly aid him in this new role.
His immediate focus is on leading the national team to victory in the Pestabola Merdeka 2024 with the first challenge being a match against the Philippines.
“Previously I acted as an assistant coach. I was involved with many clubs and teams at different levels.” Vicente said.
“I am aware of my duties as a head coach, for me there is no pressure. I will bear these challenges and opportunities which I also want to help the players improve,”
Vicente’s approach to this assignment highlights his dedication to not only securing victories but also to helping the players develop and improve. Should Malaysia triumph over the Philippines, they will have the chance to face either Lebanon or Tajikistan in the final on September 8.
