Malaysia Super League newcomers Imigresen FC are reportedly considering Stadium Tuanku Syed Putra in Kangar, Perlis as their official home ground for the upcoming 2025/26 Liga Malaysia (Liga M) season, following a rejection from the state government of Kedah.
The Klang Valley-based club’s initial bid to register Stadium Darul Aman in Alor Setar as their home venue was denied by Kedah Menteri Besar and President of the Kedah Football Association (KFA), Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.
With limited options, STSP has emerged as the front-runner. The stadium, managed by the Perlis State Sports Council (MSN Perlis), is already a host venue for local clubs in Kangar and the Perlis state team.
The potential move was confirmed by MSN Perlis Director Mohd Azraai Zain Tusimin, who revealed that technical representatives from Imigresen FC had conducted a site visit at STSP.
“Imigresen FC’s management visited the stadium today to evaluate its suitability as their home and away venue for next season’s Super League campaign,” said Azraai.
“I’ve been informed that prior to this, they had considered Stadium Darul Aman, but the proposal was rejected by the Kedah state government.”
He also disclosed that other venues being considered by the club include stadiums in Penang, Kuala Lumpur, and Selayang.
While Imigresen FC’s interest is clear, the final decision rests with the Perlis state government.
“As of now, our priority remains with homegrown Perlis teams set to compete in the Liga A1 Semi-Pro and Liga A2 Amateur leagues. In Liga A1, we will be represented by Perlis GSA FC, while Bintong FC will compete in Liga A2.”
“We continue to prioritise Perlis-based teams, but any final decision regarding Imigresen FC’s use of STSP will depend on the league schedule and the ruling from the Perlis state government,” he added.
The situation has drawn national attention as Imigresen FC’s home venue uncertainty highlights the logistical challenges faced by newly promoted clubs without a solid base. The refusal by Kedah and the club’s scramble to secure an alternative venue underscores the need for greater collaboration between clubs and state authorities in supporting Liga M’s continued professionalisation.
