Gary White, head coach of Chinese Taipei national team, admitted recruiting Harimau Malaya and Johor Darul Ta’zim is the main reason for improving Malaysia national team to the highest level ever achieved in the modern football era.
Gary also said that something right is being done by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) in addition to JDT’s involvement in Asia’s highest club tournament, the AFC Champions League (ACL).
“You have a great team, and whoever is doing the recruitment process is doing a good job by finding talent worldwide who can play for Malaysia,” Gary said in a pre-match press conference between Chinese Taipei vs Malaysia in the FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2 Group D.
“For me, your country club also helped a lot. Johor Darul Ta’Zim is a big club and invests a lot of money to improve the quality of the game and now often plays at the highest level of Asian clubs.”
“As a result, you now have many players with experience playing at the international level and Arif Aiman is one of the players to watch out for because of his speed,”
