Johor Darul Ta’zim continued to strengthen their grip after winning Terengganu FC with a score of 2-1 win over Terengganu FC in the Liga Super Malaysia 2022 at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak.
Previously, the Turtle squad controlled by Nafuzi Zain who wanted to avenge a 1-2 defeat in the first round of April started fiercely with the first attempt over Kpah Sherman in the ninth minute which successfully blocked the visitors’ defense.
Two minutes later, loan player, Nik Muhammad Sharif Haseefy Mohd Lazim had to blame himself for failing to complete the best chance to beat the Southern Tigers squad after his shot strayed to the right of the visitors’ goal.
TFC, which was dropped without the involvement of agile winger, Mohd Faisal Halim and imported player, Manuel Ott, were forced to give up another import milestone, Petrus Shitembi was rested in the 16th minute due to injury problems and was replaced with Mohamad Hakimi Abdullah.
Aware that he was often scouted, Hector Bidoglio’s squad controlled the match and in the 29th minute, the squad’s top scorer, Bergson Da Silva almost broke the goal deadlock, but his shot hit the post and saved the hosts’ goal, which was escorted by Rahadiazli Rahalim.
However, in the 31st minute, Bergson, who found a long-range pass from Mohd Afiq Fazail, did not let go of the best chance when he managed to score the first goal for his team to go 1-0 up.
Continuing the second half, the visiting squad didn’t have to wait long to add a second net following a spread from outside Fernando Forestieri’s penalty box in the 47th minute which Rahadiazli failed to deny.
In the 50th minute, TFC managed to close the position 1-2 after Mohamad Hakimi’s free kick from a distance of about 20 meters failed to be read by the goal keeper, Mohd Farizal Marlias before the ball hit the net.
Three minutes later, Nik Muhammad Sharif Haseefy had the opportunity to equalize after getting a chance to the right of the door from Sherman’s goal, but his distance was slightly lost and the final position remained in favor of JDT with a 2-1 win.
