Thailand’s national football team, ranked 99th in the world, delivered a commanding performance to defeat India (127th) by 2-0 at home in an international friendly match.
Thailand, under the guidance of head coach Masatada Ishii, started with Benjamin Davis orchestrating the midfield, supported by an attacking trio featuring Channarong Promsrikaew, Korawich Tasa, and Poramet Arjvilai.
It didn’t take long for the hosts to assert their dominance. In just the 8th minute, Korawich threaded a clever pass into the box for Benjamin Davis, who calmly slotted home with his right foot to give Thailand a 1-0 lead.
Thailand continued to press. In the 19th minute, Channarong delivered a precise free-kick into the penalty area. The ball fell to Korawich, who fired a curling left-footed shot that narrowly missed the far post.
In the 27th minute, Davis turned provider again, feeding the ball to Poramet Arjvilai, who unleashed a right-footed effort from outside the box that just sailed wide — another close call. Thailand headed into the break leading 1-0.
Thailand made their first substitution at the start of the second half, bringing on Elias Dolah for Songwut Kraikruan. In the 57th minute, Jaroensak Wonggorn was introduced for Korawich Tasa, adding fresh pace to the attack.
The second goal came just two minutes later in the 59th minute. Benjamin Davis delivered a perfectly timed through ball to Poramet Arjvilai, who took it in stride before bending a spectacular right-footed shot from outside the box. The ball clipped the crossbar on its way in, putting Thailand ahead 2-0.
Coach Ishii made more changes in the 62nd minute, bringing on Irfan Dolah and Worachit Kanitsribampen for Chanon Thamma and the brilliant Benjamin Davis.
In the 74th minute, more fresh legs entered the pitch as Shinnaphat Leeaoh and Peeradon Chamrasamee replaced Marco Ballini and Kakhon Kamyok.
Thailand nearly added a third in the 76th minute when Worachit set up Jaroensak for a right-footed shot that forced a sharp save from India’s goalkeeper. Four minutes later, Santiphap Channgom surged down the right flank and crossed to Peeradon, who scuffed his shot wide.
