Tunku Mahkota Ismail, Acting Sultan of Johor, appeared to criticize the quality of other stadiums in the country after a hot issue about the pitch of Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
TMJ expressed this view on his Instagram page while sharing a picture from the portal that shows the difference in the condition of the pitch at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium and the Rajamangala Stadium in Thailand when it rains.
TMJ explained that not only the Bukit Jalil National Stadium but all the stadiums in the country except the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium (SSI) have the same pitch quality, namely that it leaves when it rains.
“It’s not just the SNBJ (National Stadium); all the stadiums in the same country have a pedestal when it rains. The only one that doesn’t have a pedestal is the SSI (Sultan Ibrahim Stadium) Johor. That’s a fact.” TMJ said on IG.
“Cow grass has clay mixed with peat. That makes it difficult for water to absorb. We are also the only Southeast Asian country still respecting cow grass.”
“(Malaysia’s) football facilities and infrastructure are terrible. Stupid mentality, arrogant, easily satisfied, complacent, can’t accept facts and there is always an excuse that will drop the standards of our league.
Apart from that, Tunku Mahkota Ismail said that if this mentality is not changed, it is not impossible that Malaysia will be surpassed by other countries such as the Philippines and Cambodia in terms of football infrastructure.
“Thailand is already above us. Indonesia is above us in terms of infrastructure and if our mentality does not change, leagues like Vietnam, the Philippines and Cambodia will surpass us in terms of football infrastructure which plays an important role in creating the quality and standards of the league. ‘Good Luck’,”
