Negeri Sembilan FC has reiterated its commitment to helping strengthen the future of domestic football, stressing the need for open dialogue and cooperation among all stakeholders to ensure the sustainability of the Malaysian league structure.
In an official statement titled “Demi Kelangsungan Liga Malaysia” (For the Sustainability of the Malaysian League), the club acknowledged recent discussions surrounding the future of the league and the role clubs must play in maintaining its stability.
Chief Executive Officer Faliq Firdaus emphasized that the challenges currently faced by Malaysian football are not temporary but structural in nature. According to the statement, the issues involve financial pressures, governance structures, and the commercial model of the league.
Negeri Sembilan FC believes that the current difficulties also stem from wider global factors such as economic uncertainty, geopolitical tensions, and international conflicts, which have impacted sponsorship landscapes and investor confidence across the sports industry.
The club stressed that addressing these challenges requires transparent and comprehensive discussions involving multiple stakeholders within the football ecosystem. These include the Amateur Football League (Malaysia), the Football Association of Malaysia, and relevant government bodies such as the Ministry of Education Malaysia.
According to the statement, decisions affecting the future of Malaysian football should not be made in isolation, as the consequences would impact the entire ecosystem of the sport in the country.
“Open and honest discussions must take place comprehensively, involving not only clubs and the league but also key governing bodies,” Faljo stated.
Negeri Sembilan FC also reaffirmed its readiness to contribute ideas and play an active role in shaping solutions aimed at building a league that is more stable, competitive, and sustainable.
