Head coach Xisco Muñoz admitted disappointment after Johor Darul Ta’zim were held to a 1–1 draw by Terengganu FC in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, describing the result as a timely warning for his squad.
The Southern Tigers dropped points at home after failing to convert their dominance into goals, allowing Terengganu to fight back and claim a share of the spoils in a competitive encounter.
Speaking after the match, Munoz did not hide his frustration and said the result should serve as a reminder for the players to rediscover their consistency.
According to the Spanish tactician, JDT’s overall performance was not poor, but their inability to capitalise on scoring opportunities ultimately cost them victory.
“The performance was not bad, but if you fail to turn chances into goals, you will be punished,” said Muñoz.
He also praised Terengganu’s disciplined defensive structure, which made it difficult for JDT to break through despite sustained attacking pressure.
Munoz added that failing to finish the game early allowed the opposition to reorganise tactically and launch dangerous counterattacks.
“When you don’t finish the match early, you give the opponent the chance to adjust their tactics and attack you. At certain moments, we lacked maturity in crucial situations,” he explained.
However, Muñoz believes the result could ultimately benefit the team by reminding them not to become complacent.
“This is a lesson for us. We must return to playing with high intensity and understand the mistakes we made that cost us two points at home,” he said.
“In any sport, you cannot be too comfortable. This result should push us to get back on the right track.”
