Egypt national team delivered a powerful World Cup warning after cruising to a dominant 4-0 victory over the hosts, Saudi Arabia, in the International friendly match at King Abdullah Sports City, Jeddah.
The emphatic result serves as a major confidence boost for both sides’ preparations ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, with Egypt producing a clinical all-round display from the opening whistle.
The Pharaohs needed just four minutes to break the deadlock, with Islam Issa striking early to stun the home crowd and hand Egypt immediate control.
The pressure continued to build, and in the 16th minute, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet doubled the lead with a composed finish as Saudi Arabia struggled to contain Egypt’s attacking transitions.
By the closing stages of the first half, the visitors had all but sealed the contest.
In the 44th minute, Ahmed Zizo added the third goal, capping off a ruthless first-half performance and sending Egypt into the break with complete control.
Egypt maintained their intensity after the restart, refusing to allow Saudi Arabia any route back into the match.
The fourth goal arrived in the 56th minute through Omar Marmoush, whose finish underlined the gulf in sharpness between the two World Cup-bound nations on the night.
From midfield control to decisive finishing, Egypt dictated every phase of the contest.
The match forms part of both teams’ final preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Egypt are set to compete in Group G alongside Belgium, Iran, and New Zealand, while Saudi Arabia face a stern challenge in Group H against Spain, Cape Verde, and Uruguay.
