Thailand launched their SEA Games 2025 campaign in explosive fashion after demolishing Indonesia 8–0 in their Group A opener at Chonburi Stadium, Chonburi.
Head coach Nuengruthai Srathongvien deployed Saowalak Pengngam as the lone striker, supported by Jiraphon Mongkhondee and Silawan Intamee, forming a sharp and fast-attacking frontline.
The Chaba Kaew needed only 8 minutes to open the scoring when Indonesia’s Yumanda Gea accidentally turned the ball into her own net while trying to clear Nori Ayasha’s cross, Thailand 1–0, and the floodgates were wide open.
Thailand doubled their lead in the 20th minute. From a corner delivered by Silawan, Sunisa Srangthaisong saw her header saved, but Pattharanant Uppachai reacted fastest to tap in the rebound, 2–0 and Thailand were cruising.
Seven minutes later, another corner—another goal, Pleumjai Sonthisawat swung in the delivery, Kanchanaporn Saenkhun’s header was saved, but yet again the rebound fell perfectly for Silawan Intamee, who smashed it home for 3–0.
Thailand made their first substitution in the 43rd minute when Silawan was forced off injured, replaced by Taneekan Dangda.
Just a minute later, Thailand struck again. Thanikan chased down a loose ball, battled past a defender, and laid it off for Saowalak Pengngam, who fired in her second of the evening and marched into halftime with a commanding 4–0 lead.
Thailand refreshed the squad, bringing on Madison James Casteen and Natthawadee Prumnark to start the second half.
Thailand earned their first penalty in the 50th minute when Pitsamai Sonhsai was pulled down by Cheva Imut, and Jiraphon Mongkhondee stepped up and buried it for 5–0.
Two minutes later, Thailand received their second penalty—this time Sunisa Srangthaisong was fouled by Rumbeware Elizabeth and Jiraphon converted with confidence, stretching the lead to 6–0.
Thailand weren’t done yet, In the 55th minute, another corner from Pleunmai found Panidtha Jeeratanapaviboon, who kneed the ball in from close range to make it 7–0.
The eighth came in the 59th minute after Thanikan Dangda’s effort was saved but fell kindly to Jiraphon Mongkhondee, who completed her hat-trick in style.
Thailand 8–0, and Indonesia had no answers.
Thailand made more changes, including the introduction of Reanne Rach, and later Supaporn Intaprasit replacing the injured Kanchanaporn.
Indonesia finally created a real chance in the 75th minute when Al Mabroroh Ulya cut inside and curled a shot toward the top corner, but Thai goalkeeper Thichanan Sodchuen produced a brilliant fingertip save.
In the end, Thailand closed out the match comfortably, sealing a dominant 8–0 victory and their first three points of the tournament.
