Indonesia’s badminton governing body (PBSI) has released an official statement addressing growing speculation surrounding the absence of two mixed doubles pairs from upcoming international tournaments, including the 2026 BWF World Championships, after rumours emerged that several players had been suspended over disciplinary issues.
The two affected partnerships are Jafar Hidayatullah/Felisha Pasaribu and Adnan Maulana/Indah Cahya Sari Jamil, whose names were notably missing from Indonesia’s competition entries for August, triggering widespread discussion among badminton fans and media.
In response, PBSI clarified that the changes are linked to an ongoing investigation conducted by the Badminton World Federation (BWF)’s Independent Hearing Panel, involving allegations of potential Integrity Code violations concerning the conduct of several Indonesian players.
“PBSI wishes to issue an official statement regarding adjustments to Indonesia’s mixed doubles entries for the 2026 BWF World Championships, as well as the ongoing review process by the BWF Independent Hearing Panel concerning alleged integrity violations involving several Indonesian athletes.
PBSI fully respects the ongoing legal and disciplinary process and urges all parties to refrain from speculation or drawing conclusions until an official decision has been issued by the independent panel.”
The federation deliberately stopped short of confirming the identities of the players under investigation or the exact nature of the alleged violations, stressing that the matter remains under an independent disciplinary process.
Adding another layer to the developing story, Indah Cahya Sari Jamil—one of the players omitted from the original mixed doubles entries—has already been assigned a new partner.
Just two days earlier, PBSI confirmed that Indah will now compete alongside Bagas Maulana, the former men’s doubles partner of Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, in a newly formed mixed doubles combination.
The move has inevitably intensified speculation regarding the future of Indonesia’s previous mixed doubles pairings, although PBSI has yet to indicate whether the changes are temporary or permanent.
For now, the Indonesian federation has reiterated its commitment to respecting the integrity of the disciplinary process while awaiting the final ruling from the BWF Independent Hearing Panel.
With the 2026 BWF World Championships fast approaching, the case remains one of the biggest off-court stories in international badminton, as fans await official clarification on the status of the players involved and the potential impact on Indonesia’s campaign at the sport’s premier event.
