The Saturday streak rolls on. Marc Marquez delivered yet another masterclass under the floodlights at the Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar, completing a sensational pole position and Tissot Sprint race double to reclaim the MotoGP World Championship lead from his brother Alex Marquez, who finished second in a gripping 11-lap sprint showdown at the Lusail International Circuit.
The Ducati Lenovo Team star, wearing the #93 with his trademark swagger, showed no signs of slowing down in 2025 as he made it four Sprint wins in a row, further cementing his dominance on Saturdays this season. Completing the podium was a resurgent Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team), who fended off a late onslaught to secure his first Sprint podium in style.
The front row exploded off the line with the Marquez brothers and Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) all making rapid starts. But it was Marc who snatched the holeshot into Turn 1, leading Alex and Quartararo into the opening lap.
Drama unfolded immediately as rookie Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) and Morbidelli jostled for P4, while Maverick Viñales (Red Bull KTM Tech3) and Johann Zarco (LCR Honda Castrol) muscled their way into contention.
Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) struggled to make an impact. After a lackluster start that saw him stuck in P11, the reigning World Champion was inexplicably going backward as Pedro Acosta, Ai Ogura, and even injured former rival Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) moved ahead of him.
By Lap 2, Alex briefly overtook his older brother at Turn 1, but Marc responded immediately—vintage #93. He then clocked the fastest lap of the race, pulling away to a 0.5s advantage as Alex tried to hang on.
Behind them, Morbidelli began to stretch away in third, while Quartararo came under pressure from a surging Aldeguer. The 19-year-old Spaniard was fearless, slicing through the field with maturity beyond his years.
Bagnaia, on the other hand, remained stuck in the midfield, eventually clawing his way to a disappointing P8, far from the championship-caliber form fans expect.
With three laps to go, Marc Marquez had opened a commanding 1.2-second lead, with the race win now a formality. The real action shifted to the fight for the final podium spot. Morbidelli came under late fire from Quartararo and Aldeguer, but the Italian held his nerve.
A mistake from Quartararo at the final corner allowed Aldeguer to snatch P4, as Marc crossed the finish line unchallenged, arms aloft.
