Johor Darul Ta’Zim is a first of finalist after beating Perak FC with a score of 8-0 in the Piala Malaysia 2023 semi-final second leg at Sultan Ibrahim Staidum, Iskandar Puteri.
In the action at the JDT sacred court, Esteban Solari’s line-up, which was comfortable with a 4-1 victory in the first semi-final in Ipoh on October 19, did not give any room for the Yusri Che Lah-led squad to dominate the game.
On the other hand, the line-up of Perak seemed to be mesmerised to see the South Tigers players organise the movement in the game with the accuracy of passing the ball in the centre position and the left and right-wing positions.
JDT straight into the right corner of the goal, beating the goalkeeper, Farhan Majid, to put the aggregate 5-1.
Bergson Da Silva was clearly in a class of his own when he scored the second goal for JDT in the 27th minute after shooting a powerful ball right into the left corner of the goal that Farhan Majid failed to save.
Solari’s protégé added to the misery for The Bos Gaurus squad in the 32nd minute after Heberty Fernandes who was outside the penalty box shot the ball into the net to put the hosts comfortably ahead 3-0 and with an aggregate of 7-1.
Continuing the second half, JDT should have added a goal in the 51st minute after Fernando Forestieri’s back pass gave space for captain Jordi Amat to take a curling kick, but the goal post stood in the way.
However, the goal that the hosts were looking for to eliminate the rest of Perak FC’s struggle resulted in the 52nd minute after Forestieri, who was not controlled, easily shot the ball for the fourth goal of the match.
Bergson scored his second goal in the 60th minute when he shot hard past Farhan Majid.
Less than two minutes after the goal scored by Bergson, it was the turn of substitute Syafiq Ahmad to score after heading the ball from a pass by Oscar Arribas for a 6-0 position and 10-1 aggregate.
Luka Milunovic’s header with the intention of Farhan Majid catching the ball turned into a nightmare in the 77th minute when Syafiq Ahmad, who was not controlled, grabbed the ball and flicked it in to make it 7-0.
As the action entered injury time, Fernandes also scored his second personal goal before Perak FC scored a consolation goal through Firdaus Ahmad Fuad.
