Philippine Football Federation (PFF) has made its stance clear: the door is wide open for Dro Fernandez should the highly-rated FC Barcelona midfielder choose to commit his international future to the Philippines.
In a statement that has sparked excitement among Filipino football fans, the PFF expressed its readiness to welcome Dro into the national team setup, highlighting the federation’s continued push to strengthen the Azkals with quality players competing at the highest level of European football.
Dro, who has impressed in Barcelona colours with his composure, technical quality and versatility in midfield, is understood to be eligible to represent the Philippines. His potential inclusion would mark a significant boost for the national side, particularly as the PFF looks to elevate the team’s competitiveness in major regional and continental tournaments.
The federation emphasized that the decision ultimately rests with the player, but reiterated its openness and long-term vision of integrating talents who can raise standards both on and off the pitch. Bringing in a player developed in one of the world’s most renowned football academies would also align with the PFF’s ambition to accelerate the growth of Philippine football.
While no official commitment has been made, the message from Manila is unmistakable: should Dro Fernandez choose the Philippines, he will be welcomed with open arms.
