The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has officially unveiled a 28-player squad for the national team’s final Group F fixture in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers, with head coach Peter Cklamovski opting for continuity and fresh youth as Malaysia prepares to face Vietnam on March 31.
The decisive clash will be held at Thiên Trường Stadium, marking the final outing for Harimau Malaya in a campaign already overshadowed by disciplinary sanctions.
Contrary to speculation, naturalised players Bergson da Silva and Giancarlo Gallifuoco were not included in the squad. Instead, Cklamovski handed call-ups to two new faces — Muhammad Feroz Baharudin and Muhammad Syahmi Safari — signalling a shift toward rebuilding and long-term planning.
The squad largely retains its core, maintaining stability despite ongoing turbulence surrounding the national setup.
A statement from Malaysia NT confirmed that centralised training will begin this Monday, with preparations fully focused on ending the campaign on a positive note.
Malaysia’s attacking unit features a blend of experience and pace, led by captain Faisal Halim, alongside key names such as Safawi Rasid, Luqman Hakim Shamsudin, Paulo Josue, and Ramadhan Saifullah.
In midfield, Cklamovski has called upon a mix of creativity and control, including Endrick Dos Santos, Nazmi Faiz, Nooa Laine, Ryan Lambert, Sergio Aguero (Malaysia-based player), and Stuart Wilkin.
The defensive line sees 13 players selected, highlighting depth and tactical flexibility. Among those included are La’Vere Corbin-Ong, Daniel Ting, Dion Cools, Dominic Tan, Junior Eldstal, and Matthew Davies.
Between the posts, Ahmad Syihan Hazmi Mohamed, Azri Ghani, and Haziq Nadzli will compete for the starting role.
Additionally, young goalkeeper Muhammad Haziq Aiman Mohd Esa has been placed under a specialised goalkeeper development programme.
