Johor Darul Ta’zim all but booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 2025/26 Piala Malaysia after demolishing PDRM FC 10-1 in the first leg of the Round of 16 at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, Iskandar Puteri.
Harimau Selatan named Christian Abad between the posts, with Afiq Fazail wearing the captain’s armband, while prolific striker Bergson da Silva spearheaded the attack. PDRM, meanwhile, entrusted Asri Muhamad as goalkeeper, with Park Tae-su leading The Cops.
JDT wasted no time asserting their dominance. Teto Martin was a constant menace early on and broke the deadlock in the 3rd minute before striking again in the 7th minute to hand the hosts a dream start.
The Southern Tigers continued to dominate the first half, creating waves of attacks led by Bergson. The Brazilian thought he had added a third in the 42nd minute, but the effort was ruled out for offside. JDT went into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.
The intensity only increased after halftime. Nazmi Faiz made it 3-0 in the 47th minute after a fine assist from Jonathan Silva, before Teto Martin completed his hat-trick just three minutes later.
PDRM found a brief moment of relief when Imran Samso curled home a consolation goal in the 61st minute. However, any hopes of a comeback were swiftly extinguished.
Teto Martin struck again to make it 5-1, sealing four goals to his name, before new import Marcos Guilherme announced himself in style with JDT’s sixth goal in the 66th minute. Teto then added his fifth of the night in the 73rd minute, capping a sensational individual performance.
Manuel Hidalgo joined the scoresheet in the 86th minute, Marcos Guilherme grabbed his second in the 90th minute following an assist from Yago Cesar, and Teto Martin completed a double hat-trick with JDT’s tenth goal in stoppage time.
The emphatic 10-1 victory leaves JDT with one foot firmly in the quarter-finals ahead of the second-leg encounter, scheduled to take place again at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium on January 24.
