Deportivo Alavés has confirmed that the club has received official notification from FIFA regarding the sanction imposed on Argentine defender Facundo Garcés, following resolutions issued by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee.
In light of the decision, Garcés has been excluded from Alavés’ squad for this afternoon’s La Liga clash against RCD Mallorca.
The Basque club released an official statement reaffirming its respect for due process and the player’s right to a presumption of innocence while awaiting the outcome of further proceedings.
“Deportivo Alavés wishes to emphasize its respect for the player’s presumption of innocence and hopes the case will be resolved as quickly as possible,” the club stated.
The sanction against Garcés is linked to a broader FIFA investigation involving several players and the Football Association of Malaysia, where issues of eligibility and alleged falsification of documents are under scrutiny.
For now, Alavés has indicated it will fully comply with FIFA’s ruling, while continuing to provide support to Garcés throughout the process.
