The highly anticipated ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Championship clash between superstars Rodtang Jitmuangnon and Nong-O Hama Muaythai has been officially scrapped from the ONE 173 fight card after both fighters were ruled unfit to compete under separate circumstances.
The dramatic development unfolded late Friday morning following the official weigh-ins.
Rodtang, the division’s most dominant and electrifying champion, successfully hit his required weight during the late-morning weigh-in. However, moments afterward, he experienced sudden illness and immediately notified ONE Championship’s medical personnel.
For safety precautions, the 27-year-old superstar was transported to the hospital for further evaluation. ONE Championship confirmed that the withdrawal was strictly due to medical concerns prioritizing the athlete’s well-being.
Former long-reigning champion Nong-O Hama Muaythai, who was aiming to reclaim the flyweight Muay Thai throne, stepped onto the scale twice but failed to meet the hydration and weight requirements.
Under ONE’s strict weigh-in and hydration rules, his failure meant that the world title fight could no longer proceed.
With Rodtang hospitalized and Nong-O missing weight, ONE Championship announced that the Flyweight Muay Thai World Title match has been removed from ONE 173.
The organization intends to reschedule the championship fight for a future event once both fighters are medically cleared and able to make weight safely.
