DPMM FC secured their first victory of the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 season after edging Melaka FC 1-0 in a tense encounter at Hang Jebat Stadium, Krubong.
Despite being awarded two penalties of their own, Melaka failed to capitalise, with DPMM goalkeeper Muhammad Haimie Abdullah Nyaring emerging the hero after saving both spot-kicks.
The match began cautiously, with both teams prioritising defensive stability. The breakthrough chance came in the 25th minute when referee Zam Azwan Khan, after consulting VAR, awarded Melaka a penalty for a foul on Muhamad Aiman Danish.
However, striker Abdul Aziz Rahim was denied from 12 yards, with Haimie diving sharply to his right to keep the game level.
Just 11 minutes later, it was DPMM’s turn. VAR confirmed a handball by Muhammad Irfan Zakaria inside the Melaka box, and Murray calmly converted to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.
Melaka were handed a lifeline in the 65th minute with a second penalty, this time for a foul on Mohamad Afeeq Iqmal Rosli. Yet again, Haimie rose to the occasion, blocking Danilo Augusto Da Silva’s attempt to preserve DPMM’s narrow lead.
The visitors were forced to endure a nervy finish after being reduced to 10 men in the 82nd minute when Jordan de Paula Rodrigues was shown a second yellow card for a reckless challenge.
Their task became even harder in the dying moments as Olivera received a straight red card, leaving DPMM to defend with nine men for the final stages.
The defeat prolongs Melaka’s winless streak, coming on the back of a heavy 4-0 loss to Terengganu. Coach K. Devan’s side have now collected only three points from five games, all from draws, and remain without a victory this season.
For DPMM, this hard-fought result lifts spirits in their camp and marks an important milestone as they battle to climb from the bottom of the table.
