Nidzam Jamil, head coach of Selangor FC expressed his excitement following his team’s impressive 2-1 victory over Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors in their latest AFC Champions League 2 (ACL2) Group H match.
The win not only propelled Selangor to the top of the group but also bolstered the confidence of both the players and their passionate supporters.
Goals from Harith Haiqal, Adam Afkar, and Ali Olwan secured the vital three points for Selangor, while Kwon Chang-hoon netted a consolation goal for Jeonbuk. This victory was particularly sweet for the Merah Kuning squad, as they triumphed over a Jeonbuk side that has been crowned K-League 1 champions nine times.
In his post-match interview, Nidzam Jamil emphasized the significance of the win, noting the confidence it instills in both the players and the fans as Selangor continues its campaign on the Asian stage.
“Jeonbuk put up a good fight, but again, I’m proud of our players. It is not easy to play against a team like Jeonbuk,” Nidzam said. “Three points tonight are very important to build the confidence of all the supporters and the players. But again, this is football, and days like this sometimes don’t exist. Overall, I’m happy.”
