Shopee Cup 24/25 season continues tomorrow with Terengganu FC from Malaysia facing off against Group A leader, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC from Vietnam.
Tomislav Steinbrückner, head coach of Terengganu FC, emphasized the importance of their preparation, stating that this match is critical as they need three points to advance to the next stage. Terengganu FC previously suffered a 2-3 defeat against Cambodia’s Preah Khan Reach Svay Rieng FC.
“We have a simple job: we must secure three points. After losing the first match, tomorrow’s game is a must-win for us,” said Steinbrückner during the Pre-Match Conference.
“Regarding preparations, like every team, we have some challenges with injuries. Safwan Mazlan and Shahrul Nizam will miss the game, and Nelson Bonilla is also unavailable. I hope the rest of the squad will be ready for tomorrow’s match.”
Despite injuries sustained in their last Malaysia Super League match against Sabah FC, Steinbrückner confirmed that the players have recovered and resumed normal training.
The coach is expecting more from Malaysia national player Azam Azmi, who is likely to start. “Offensively, he performs well and contributes, but I expect a bit more from him defensively.”
Steinbrückner stressed that winning tomorrow’s match is essential for staying competitive. Speaking about their opponents, Đông Á Thanh Hóa FC, he acknowledged them as a strong team, having reviewed several of their matches.
Safawi Rasid, currently on loan to Terengganu FC from JDT FC, echoed the importance of the match, urging his teammates to give 100% on the pitch and secure three points.
Safawi also called on Terengganu FC fans to show up and support them at Gong Badak, acknowledging the difficulty of the game. “We need our supporters to come and create a positive atmosphere to help us win and claim the three points.”
Shopee Cup 2024/25 Group Stage, Group A match between Terengganu FC and Dong A Thanh Hoa FC will kick off on September 25, 2024, at 9:00 pm at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak.
