New Zealand national team clinched 6th title of this tournament after beating Vanuatu national team scoring 3-0 in the OFC Nations Cup 2024 final at VFF Freshwater Stadium, Port Vila Vanuatu.
The All Whites got off to a rapid start, taking the lead within two minutes. Auckland FC’s Cam Howieson capitalized on a deflected shot from Kosta Barbarouses, firing a powerful shot from the edge of the box to open the scoring.
Despite falling behind early, Vanuatu showed resilience and challenged Darren Bazeley’s side effectively. However, it wasn’t until the 83rd minute that New Zealand managed to double their lead. Substitute Jesse Randall scored his first goal for the senior national team after a swift counterattack.
Ten minutes later, Max Mata sealed the victory by scoring his second goal of the tournament, putting the game out of reach for the home team. This comprehensive win ensured New Zealand’s dominance in the OFC Nations Cup and added another trophy to their collection.
