England’s national team kept 3 points in the first match after beating Serbia’s national team, scoring 1-0 in the UEFA EURO 2024 Group Stage, Group C at Arena AufSchalke, Gelsenkirchen.
England did not wait long to be in front as a result of Bellingham’s goal in the 13th minute, who cleverly found space to head into the goal after receiving Saka’s pass.
Stunned by the goal, Serbia improved its offensive machinery and almost equalized through captain Aleksandr Mitrovic’s shot in the 21st minute but missed a bit.
England also had a chance to double their advantage but Kyle Walker’s attempt in a one-on-one situation five minutes later after receiving Saka’s pass missed the target.
Continuing in the second half, Serbia has reshuffled the starting line-up by including experienced players Dusan Tadic and Luka Jovic in pursuit of an equaliser.
These two players then combined to create the best chance in the 66th minute but Jovic’s weak effort was saved by England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Pickford was once again the hero when he saved the goal from conceding in the 83rd minute by deflecting a powerful shot from the young striker, Dusan Vlahovic.
Serbia’s last chance was scored by midfielder Sergei Milinkovic-Savic late in the match but narrowly missed as the score remained 1-0 until the final whistle.
