Amateur Football League (AFL) has press conference to announced official re-branding logo and name of competition under management of AFL in the season 2024/25
AFL has re-branding all names and logo of competition as Liga M3 changed to ‘Liga A1 Semi-Pro’ or ‘MBSB Bank Championship(under sponsor), Liga M4 changed to ‘Liga A2 Amateur’ or ‘Al-Ikhsan Cup'(under sponsor), and Liga M5 changed to ‘Liga M3 Community League’.
The re-BRANDING of the name and logo of the competition organized by the Amateur Football League (AFL) is not only aimed at the uniformity of the AFL but it is also hoped to attract more potential sponsors to jointly empower the sport.
After the last branding of the logo was done in 2019, now all the tournaments organized by the AFL which are gaining ground among the local football industry players are given a new breath in line with current developments.
AFL chairman, Datuk Wira Mohd Yusoff Mahadi said, the last time the branding of the logo and name of the tournament organized by the AFL was done was in 2019 and now it has entered its sixth year.
“Change is necessary at the starting point and we are now in an effort to increase the commercial value of the tournament.
“The AFL will rebrand the name and logo of the competition by introducing the A1 Semi Pro League as a breath of fresh air to the Liga M3, the A2 League (formerly known as the Liga M4) and the A3 Community League (formerly known as the Liga M5).
Commenting on the 2024/25 MBSB Bank Championship (MBC) which will take place in June 2024, Mohd Yusoff informed that 16 teams will compete for the championship title.
The tournament which is now entering its second season of organization with the main sponsor being MBSB Bank shows an increase compared to the previous year which is 14 teams will take place on 1 June 2024.
He added that the increase in the number of entries shows the confidence and support of the local football industry players towards MBC 2024/25.
“Officially these 16 teams are Armed Forces FC, Harini Selangor FT, Imigresen FC, Malaysian University, Melaka FC, YPM FC, Manjung City FC, PIB Shah Alam FC.
“Also taking up the challenge are Bukit Tambun FC, Machan FC, Gombak FA, Bunga Raya FC, KL Rovers, UiTM United, Kelantan FC and Putrajaya Athletic FC,” he said after officiating the rebranding ceremony of the name and logo of the competition organized by the Amateur Football League (AFL). at Hotel Armada, Petaling Jaya, today.
In last season’s MBSB Bank Championship, the championship title was only known in the last action of the league competition between Imigresen FC, KL Rovers and Harini Selangor FT where the squad coached by Mat Zan Mat Aris was crowned champion after defeating Melaka FC at the Hang Tuah Stadium, Melaka.
The three points ensured that Imigresen FC finished 24 matches to collect 55 points as a result of 17 wins, four draws and three defeats while KL Rovers was ranked second with only one point difference.
