Kelana United’s campaign in the 2025/26 Asian Women’s Champions League Preliminary Stage began with frustration as the Malaysian side was held to a 0-0 draw by Kyrgyzstan’s Sdyushor si-Asiagoal in Group C action at the Hang Jebat Stadium, Krubong.
The home team fielded Diana Syafiqah in goal, with Shalika marshalling the defence and star forward Reva leading the attacking line. Their opponents, meanwhile, named captains Kalmurzaeva Samara and Nagima Turaleiva to anchor their squad.
Both sides started aggressively, eager to secure a vital three points, and Kelana United enjoyed the lion’s share of chances in the first half. However, despite sustained pressure, they failed to convert, with efforts repeatedly denied by the visitors’ disciplined backline.
Sdyushor si-Asiagoal nearly struck first just before halftime, finding the net in the 43rd minute, but the goal was ruled out for offside. The score remained goalless at the interval.
The second half followed a similar pattern: the Kyrgyz side leveraged their physicality to carve out opportunities, but Diana stood tall between the posts, producing key saves to keep Kelana in contention. At the other end, Kelana United pressed for a breakthrough, with Reva leading several dangerous attacks that ultimately lacked the finishing touch.
As the clock ticked towards the 90th minute, the intensity rose. Kelana United came agonizingly close in stoppage time, only for their final effort to drift wide, leaving both sides to settle for a share of the points.
The stalemate leaves Group C wide open heading into the next round of fixtures, with Kelana United needing sharper finishing if they are to progress beyond the preliminary stage.
