Sabah FA book a ticket to the group stage after beating FC Nasaf, a club from Uzbekistan 2-1 in the AFC Women’s Champions League 2024/25 preliminary stage Group C at Likas Stadium, Kota Kinabalu.
In this match, Sabah FA needed to win only to take the ticket for play in the Group Stage. After successfully tying the Nepalese champions, APF FC 0-0 last Wednesday
Sabah took control of the match with a crucial goal from Myanmar striker Win Theingi Tun in the 32nd minute.
Their lead was extended just before halftime, as a penalty kick saved by Nasaf’s goalkeeper, Gulomova, was followed up by another goal from Win Theingi Tun, putting Sabah ahead 2-0.
Although Nasaf managed to pull one back with a late header from Ngonja, Sabah held on to secure the win.
With this victory, Sabah FA finishes at the top of the qualifiers with four points, advancing to the group stage of the AFC Women’s Champions League.
They will now face tough competition in Group A, where they will be up against Korean Women’s League champions Hyundai Steel Red Angels, Chinese club Wuhan Jiangda, and the qualifying champions of Group A.
