Syihan Hazmi, goalkeeper from Johor Darul Ta’Zim has absent in squad for FIFA World Cup 2026 Asian Qualifiers Round 2 Group D Matchday 5-6 in June following injury.
Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) explained that the 28-year-old goalkeeper’s injury was confirmed by the team doctor involved.
Harimau Malaya’s head coach, Kim Pan Gon, did not call for substitutes, instead sticking with the three existing goalkeepers, namely Azri Ab Ghani, Kalamullah Al-Hafiz Mat Rowi and Sikh Izhan Nazrel Sikh Azman.
However, the national squad is more complete when six players come down to undergo a training session with the Harimau Malaya squad at Wisma FAM, Kelana Jaya, tonight.
The six players involved are five from JDT namely Matthew Davies, La’Vere Corbin-Ong, Shahrul Saad, Feroz Baharudin and Endrick dos Santos while another player is from abroad, Dion Cools.
Malaysia training camp is now joined by 24 players with Selangor FC (SFC) player Nooa Laine joining the team on Monday, 3 June 2024 to complete the 25 players who will fly to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday.
