Norshahrul Idlan Talaha, a former striker of Malaysia’s national team, is facing salary arrears issues with his former club, Melaka United.
Norshahrul, who played with Melaka United in the 2022 season, has publicly urged the club to settle his outstanding salary for the last six months.
Now, Melaka United has been sanctioned by FIB not to be granted a national license after the end of season 2022 and was demoted to play in Liga M3.
The financial challenges and outstanding salary issues at Melaka United highlight the difficulties that some football clubs face, impacting both the club’s stability and the players’ well-being. Players contribute significantly to the sport, and it’s crucial for clubs to prioritize their financial responsibilities to ensure fair treatment and maintain a healthy environment within the football community.
Norshahrul’s public appeal on his Instagram page draws attention to the need for transparency, accountability, and fair treatment of players in the realm of football management.
“Melaka United, my IG has also been returned. The six-month arrears salary is a bit uncertain when will I be able to return it?” Matyo said on his IG.
“Wait a long time, pay the debt. Many losses to the wife and children. It’s not good to mistreat people. When do you want to pay? Six months is not six weeks but six is not without pay. Work goes to work, salary doesn’t want to pay?”
“How do you defend the fate of players who have served the country? At the beginning of 2022, it’s late to pay and then it’s a little bit,”
“The salary is not big, but we have to understand that the club has a problem with the government. You know why you can’t hire expensive imported players?”
“Measure the clothes on your own budget. I’m asking you to help me solve the salary issue. Do I need to take a screenshot and tell the public? That’s not my way.”
“Now everyone is silent as if running, attempt after attempt (made) to cover my name, right? There are many (more) that want to be exposed,”
