Malaysia’s rising motorcycle talent Hakim Danish Ramli continued his meteoric rise on the international stage with a brilliant second-place finish in the opening round of the FIM Junior GP 2024 at the Estoril Circuit on Sunday, May 4.
The 17-year-old prodigy, who started from third on the grid, showcased poise and precision beyond his years as he locked horns in a fierce battle for second place with Finland’s Rico Salmela and Ireland’s Casey O’Gorman.
Hakim, riding with maturity and calculated aggression, clinched second on the final lap, edging out Salmela who had to settle for third. The race was dominated from lights to flag by Spanish rider Brian Uriarte, who took a commanding win.
This performance marks Hakim’s third consecutive podium in just two weeks, following back-to-back second-place finishes at the Red Bull Rookies Cup last weekend at the Jerez Circuit in Spain—further proof of the Malaysian’s growing reputation in the international junior racing scene.
Hakim’s Estoril success underscores his ability to adapt quickly, battle under pressure, and remain a serious contender among Europe’s elite junior riders.
Hakim will now shift his focus back to Jerez, where he returns for the second round of the FIM Junior GP in June—a track where he already tasted success in the Rookies Cup and will aim to go one better.
The young Malaysian’s consistency, pace, and determination have sparked excitement among local fans and motorsport observers alike, with many touting him as a future MotoGP contender.
“Hakim is proving he’s not just fast—but smart, consistent, and fearless. He’s sending a clear message that Malaysia is back on the world stage in two-wheel racing,” said a national motorsport official following the race.
With momentum firmly on his side, all eyes will now be on Hakim Danish as he continues his promising journey through the ranks of international motorcycle racing.
