Sabah FC finally recorded their first victory of the season after mounting a spirited comeback to defeat Penang FC 3–2 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at Stadium Likas, Kota Kinabalu.
The match was a roller-coaster filled with momentum swings, five goals, and a roaring home crowd pushing the Rhinos all the way.
Penang FC drew first blood in the 17th minute when Australian striker Dylan Wenzel-Halls coolly slotted home to give the visitors the lead.
But Sabah responded almost instantly — only five minutes later — as Ajdin Mujagić finished confidently to level the score at 1–1.
Wenzel-Halls, however, was far from done. The Penang forward struck again in the 39th minute, completing his brace and sending the Panthers into halftime with a 2–1 advantage.
Sabah returned for the second half with renewed energy and purpose, fuelled by the loud backing of the Likas faithful.
Their efforts paid off in the 56th minute when Muhammad Jafri Firdaus Chew smashed home the second equaliser, swinging momentum firmly in Sabah’s favour.
The decisive moment came in the 71st minute, Daniel Ting rose above the Penang defence to deliver the winning goal — triggering celebrations across the stadium as Sabah completed their comeback in style.
The valuable three points see Sabah climb to 9th place with 7 points from nine matches and Penang FC, meanwhile, drop to 11th with just 5 points collected so far.
