Selangor FC have been handed one of the harshest disciplinary rulings of the season after the Football Association of Malaysia’s (FAM) Disciplinary Committee imposed a two-match stadium ban and a RM100,000 fine following a series of serious crowd disturbances during their Piala FA Malaysia 2025/26 quarter-final clash against Negeri Sembilan FC.
The ruling was delivered during the committee’s first special meeting for the 2025–2029 term on 14 November.
According to FAM’s detailed findings, Selangor FC were found guilty of five separate disciplinary breaches, involving both supporter misconduct and organisational failures at MBPJ Stadium on 29 October.
The catalogue of offences included:
- Fireworks thrown into the visiting supporters’ section, with at least two explosive devices reportedly detonated.
- Seats ripped out and hurled, along with water bottles, injuring two Negeri Sembilan supporters.
- An incident in the VIP section, where a Selangor-linked VVIP was seen throwing a water-filled plastic container at the Negeri Sembilan players’ families.
- Provocations between both supporter groups escalating into disorder in the stands.
- Failure by Selangor FC to execute required safety, crowd-control, and organisational responsibilities, including ensuring cooperation with local authorities.
FAM concluded that Selangor FC failed to uphold core match-organising obligations, a violation compounded by what it classified as “repeated offences”.
As punishment, Selangor FC must play their next two FA Cup home matches without spectators, including:
- Piala FA Malaysia 2025/26 Semi-final 2nd leg against Sabah FC on 30 November
- Piala FA Malaysia 2026/27 first home match
In addition to the spectator ban, Selangor FC were fined RM100,000, invoked under Article 42 for repeated misconduct — signalling FAM’s zero-tolerance stance toward crowd trouble and club negligence.
FAM also warned that heavier sanctions, potentially affecting competition participation, may be imposed should similar incidents reoccur.
