Returning to the international stage after a long and challenging recovery, Feroz Baharudin is embracing his second chance with determination as Malaysia prepares for a crucial encounter against Vietnam in the AFC Asian Cup 2027 Qualifiers.
Currently in a centralised training camp in Pathum Thani, the Johor Darul Ta’zim defender described his national team call-up as a deeply meaningful moment—one that marks a personal comeback after nearly a year away from competitive action.
“This call-up means a lot to me. After almost a year without playing, this is my opportunity to prove my performance to the coach and give my best for the country.”
Feroz’s journey back has been anything but easy. The defender revealed that regaining full fitness required patience, discipline, and mental strength.
“My recovery wasn’t easy. To reach this level again and return with this kind of performance took a lot. I need to be careful, stay prepared—especially with proper warm-ups—and be consistent.”
Now back on the pitch, he believes his form is steadily returning, but insists there is still more to give.
“Alhamdulillah, I feel like my performance is back to normal. But I need to be more confident and show even better performances.”
Feroz also credited his club, Johor Darul Ta’zim, for playing a vital role in his recovery and renewed confidence.
“Everyone at JDT supported me every day in training. They helped me come back stronger and gave me the confidence to perform at my best.”
With Malaysia set to face Vietnam in a high-stakes Group F clash, Feroz is fully aware of the responsibility that comes with wearing the national jersey.
“This is about national pride. We must give our full focus and deliver our best against Vietnam.”
“If given the opportunity, I will prove myself—to the coach and to all Malaysians. We will do our best and defend the pride of the country.”
