Drama, speed, and a touch of chaos! Day 2 of the Buriram Test had it all. While the morning sun smiled on the grid, the afternoon session turned into a survival of the fittest at the Chang International Circuit, Buriram.
When the dust settled, it was Marco Bezzecchi who emerged as the king of the mountain, clocking a blistering 1:28.668 to shatter the timing screens and claim the fastest lap of the test so far!
The day started with a statement from the “King of Comebacks.” Marc Marquez, now settled into his Ducati Lenovo colors, dominated the morning session. He looked untouchable, posting a 1:28.836 that left the rest of the field scratching their heads.
But as the clock hit 12:00 PM, the strategy shifted. All 22 riders flooded the track to simulate Sprint Race conditions, pushing their machines to the limit in the sweltering midday heat.
The afternoon session (4:00 PM) was supposed to be a final dash for glory, but Turn 3 had other plans. Marc Marquez’s morning luck ran out. The Spaniard suffered a crash at Turn 3, sending shockwaves through the Ducati garage.
However, in typical Marquez fashion, he brushed off the dirt, hopped on a scooter, and headed to the health center himself. While he was declared fit, the session was halted with a Red Flag to repair the damaged track surface.
Once the green flag flew again, Aprilia Racing showed their hand. Marco Bezzecchi put on a masterclass in corner speed, edging out Marquez’s morning time to finish P1 with that monstrous 1:28.668. The Aprilia RS-GP26 looks like a rocket ship in the hands of the Italian!
The record of Bezzecchi is set the fastest time in the history of Chang International Circuit, although according to MotoGP rules it’s not yet considered an official record as it occurred during a test session. However, it is still faster than the previous record of 1 minute 28.700 seconds set by Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo Team in 2024.
Diogo Moreira was the standout surprise, hauling his Honda into P11 and knocking on the door of the top 10. Meanwhile, World SBK legend Toprak Razgatlioglu continues his steep learning curve on the Yamaha M1, finishing P21 as he adapts to the Michelin rubber.
