Malaysia’s motorsport hero Hafizh Syahrin Abdullah delivered a stunning performance at the Sepang International Circuit, clinching Race 1 victory in the ASB1000 category of the IDEMITSU FIM Asia Road Racing Championship 2025 – Round 5.
The triumph marked his third win of the season and his first-ever career victory on home soil at the iconic Sepang track — a historic milestone for both Hafizh and the JDT Racing Team.
Starting from pole position (P1), Hafizh showcased complete dominance throughout the 11-lap race, leading from start to finish with remarkable control and precision. The former MotoGP rider maintained consistent pace, fending off challenges from regional rivals and crossing the finish line unchallenged with a best lap time of 2:06.099 minutes.
This victory not only strengthens Hafizh’s position in the ASB1000 championship standings but also cements his status as one of Asia’s top riders — and a key contender for the 2025 title.
“Winning at Sepang means everything to me,” Hafizh said after the race. “It’s a dream come true to finally take victory here in front of my home fans. The team did an amazing job setting up the bike, and we kept strong pace all weekend. I dedicate this win to the Malaysian supporters and the JDT Racing family.”
The win carries extra significance for the Johor-based team, as Hafizh’s teammate, Ryo Mizuno, the Japanese wildcard rider, was declared unfit to race this weekend due to medical reasons.
