Rising Malaysian talent Qabil Irfan Azlan is aiming to secure his second podium finish of the 2026 Moto4 European Cup when the championship heads to Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours for Round 4 from 24–26 July.
The SIC-GRYD Racing rider arrives in France full of confidence after claiming the first podium of his Moto4 European Cup career at Round 3 in Jerez, Spain last month, a breakthrough performance that confirmed his ability to compete among Europe’s brightest young riders.
Qabil’s impressive result in Jerez lifted the 14-year-old Malaysian to sixth place in the overall championship standings with 51 points, keeping him firmly in contention for a top-five finish with four rounds remaining.
The young Terengganu-born rider has spent the championship break training intensively in Barcelona, Spain, focusing on physical conditioning, race fitness, and technical improvements ahead of one of the calendar’s most demanding circuits.
Known for its high-speed corners and heavy braking zones, Magny-Cours presents a fresh challenge, but Qabil believes the experience gained over the opening three rounds has strengthened both his confidence and race management.
“I’m really excited to race at Magny-Cours in France. I know it won’t be easy because every rider is becoming more competitive. We’ve seen in previous rounds that everyone is fast from practice right through to race day.
“I’ve prepared as well as possible together with the team, and I’ll give 100 percent in every session to make sure I’m ready, especially to stay competitive with the front group.”
Round 4 could prove to be a turning point in Qabil’s rookie campaign.
Currently sixth overall on 51 points, he trails fifth-placed Ignacio Galán (Spain) by just two points, while Edoardo Savino (Italy) sits fourth on 56 points, Mateo Marulanda (Colombia) is third with 59 points, and Lorenzo Pritelli (Italy) occupies second place with 61 points.
Championship leader Álvaro Lucas (Spain) has established a commanding advantage with 95 points.
A strong result—or another podium finish—in France could propel Qabil into the championship’s top five before the season continues with the remaining rounds in Valencia, MotorLand Aragón, and Misano.
