Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, showcased their grit and class to book a spot in their fourth consecutive final after a hard-fought 19-21, 21-10, 21-18 victory over India’s world No. 1 duo, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, in the semi-finals of the Singapore Open 2025.
The world No. 3 Malaysians recovered brilliantly after dropping the opening game, dominating the second and showing nerves of steel in a tense decider to clinch the win in front of a roaring crowd at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Aaron and Wooi Yik will face South Korea’s world No. 10 pair, Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae, in the final. The in-form Koreans stunned top seeds Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen with a commanding 21-15, 21-11 performance in the other semi-final and will be hunting for their fourth title of the season.
The final promises to be a high-stakes rematch, as Kim and Seo had narrowly defeated Aaron and Wooi Yik in straight games, 22-20, 21-19, at the India Open earlier this year.
This is a 4 finals tournament in-a-row of Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik after they reached final in last 3 tournaments such as Badminton Asia Championship, Thailand Open, and Malaysia Masters.
With revenge on their minds and momentum on their side, the Malaysian duo will be aiming to capture their first title of the year — and reaffirm their status as one of the most consistent and dangerous pairs on the BWF World Tour.
