Malaysia’s world No. 2 women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan–M. Thinaah are just one win away from clinching their first title of the season after booking a commanding place in the DAIHATSU Indonesia Masters 2026 final on Saturday.
The top seeds rose to the occasion at a packed Istora Senayan, producing a polished and energetic display to brush aside Indonesia’s Lanny Tria Mayasari–Apriyani Rahayu in straight sets, 21-15, 21-8, in just 32 minutes.
Last year’s runners-up showed why they are among the most consistent pairs on the World Tour, blending composure and aggression to silence the home crowd in the Super 500 BWF tournament.
Pearly–Thinaah made a flying start in the opening game, racing to a 6-1 lead, but a brief lapse in concentration, coupled with roaring support from the Indonesian fans, allowed the hosts to claw back to 6-6 and 8-8.
However, the Malaysian duo quickly regained control, tightening their defence and upping the tempo to pull away 13-8 before closing out the first game 21-15 with authority.
Determined not to let history repeat itself, Pearly–Thinaah came out firing in the second game, storming into an 8-1 advantage and never looking back. Calm under pressure and ruthless in execution, they completely dictated the rallies, stretching the gap to 17-4 before sealing a dominant 21-8 victory.
Standing between Pearly–Thinaah and the title on Sunday will be Japan’s Arisa Igarashi–Miyu Takahashi.
The unseeded Japanese pair earned their final berth after outlasting Indonesia’s seventh seeds Rachel Allessya Rose–Febi Setianingrum in a gruelling three-set semi-final, winning 12-21, 21-19, 21-13.
With momentum firmly on their side, Pearly–Thinaah will head into the final brimming with confidence as they chase a long-awaited breakthrough triumph in 2026.
