Malaysia’s premier women’s doubles pair Pearly Tan and M. Thinaah finished as runners-up at the 2026 Taiwan Open after falling to Japan’s Nakade Sumire and Takahashi Miyu in the final of the BWF Super 300 tournament.
The tournament’s top seeds were beaten 16-21, 18-21 in a 40-minute showdown, with the Japanese pair producing a composed display to claim the championship.
Pearly and Thinaah entered the final as favourites and battled hard throughout the contest, but Nakade and Takahashi proved more clinical during the decisive moments of both games.
The Malaysian duo struggled to find their rhythm early in the opening game, allowing the Japanese pair to capitalise on several unforced errors before taking the first game 21-16.
They responded strongly in the second game, raising their intensity and narrowing the gap on multiple occasions. However, Nakade and Takahashi maintained their composure under pressure, closing out the match 21-18 to secure the title.
Despite missing out on the championship, the tournament marked another encouraging step forward for Pearly and Thinaah. The pair have continued to show steady improvement since Pearly’s return from a lengthy absence caused by a back injury, with their run to the final highlighting their growing confidence and consistency on the international stage.
