In a display of sheer determination and resilience, Malaysia’s Hakim Danish overcame an early crash to secure a brilliant second-place finish in Race 2 of the 2025 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at the rain-soaked Le Mans Circuit.
Starting from pole position in wet and treacherous conditions, the 16-year-old sensation suffered a fall in the opening lap. But instead of succumbing to the setback, Hakim showed his trademark grit – remounting quickly, gathering composure, and slicing through the field with razor-sharp focus.
The young Malaysian crossed the line just 12.361 seconds behind race winner Benat Fernandez of Spain, who clocked a time of 25:46.423s. Argentina’s Marco Morelli completed the podium, trailing by 21.922 seconds.
“I thought I had lost the podium,” Hakim admitted. “But I picked up my bike, rejoined the race, stayed calm, and just focused on overtaking as many riders as I could. I’m really happy to still make the podium.”
The heroic ride not only earned Hakim his fourth consecutive podium finish of the season but also ensured he remains firmly at the top of the overall standings with 80 points, leading Fernandez (57 points) and fellow Spaniard Brian Uriarte (50 points).
Already hailed as one of Asia’s brightest prospects in MotoGP, Hakim Danish continues to impress on the world stage – with maturity beyond his years, and an unrelenting hunger to succeed.
As the championship heads to the next round, all eyes will be on the Malaysian wonderkid to see how far his incredible momentum can carry him.
