Terengganu FC put on a commanding display to defeat Kelantan TRW 4-1 in the Liga Super Malaysia 2025/26 at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium, Gong Badak.
The hosts started brightly, dictating play in the opening 15 minutes but were initially frustrated by Kelantan’s defense. Their persistence, however, soon paid off.
In the 22nd minute, Diego Landis opened the scoring after pouncing on a loose ball spilled by Kelantan goalkeeper Azfar Arif following a free-kick from Nurillo Tukhtasinov.
Nurillo then turned scorer himself, doubling the lead in the 29th minute with a precise finish. By the 39th minute, Yann Mabella added a third, slotting home from Azam Azmi’s right-wing cross to give Terengganu a commanding 3-0 advantage at halftime.
Kelantan TRW showed more fight after the restart and pulled one back through substitute T. Saravanan in the 51st minute, raising hopes of a potential comeback. But those hopes were quickly dashed.
In the 72nd minute, Mabella struck again, netting his second of the night to restore Terengganu’s three-goal cushion and seal a convincing 4-1 victory.
The result gives Terengganu strong momentum heading into their FA Cup quarter-final first leg against Kuching City on 18 October, also at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium.
Kelantan TRW, meanwhile, will regroup as they prepare to host Sabah in their own quarter-final first leg on the same day.
