The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has welcomed the announcement of an increased budget allocation for Harimau Malaya, Malaysia’s national football team, as part of the 2025 Budget.

Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Hamidin Haji Mohd Amin, President of FAM, expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for prioritizing the development of Malaysian football.

In a statement made today, Datuk Seri Anwar revealed the additional allocation aimed at strengthening the foundation and future of football in Malaysia. The increased budget reflects the government’s dedication to improving the competitiveness of Harimau Malaya and ensuring the team is equipped to excel in international tournaments.

Tan Sri Hamidin assured that FAM would utilize this allocation effectively to elevate development programs across all levels of Harimau Malaya. “This effort will include preparing the main team to be more competitive in every international tournament it participates in,” he said.

The funds will also be directed toward organizational improvements within FAM, ensuring that national players receive the highest level of professional support. This includes access to appointed experts in areas such as coaching, sports science, nutrition, and performance analysis.

“The additional allocation will drive changes within FAM, enabling us to provide better support and facilities for our players. It will undoubtedly serve as a source of motivation for the national squad to achieve even greater success in the future,” Tan Sri Hamidin added.

Tan Sri Hamidin also extended his appreciation to His Royal Highness Tunku Mahkota Ismail, the Regent of Johor, for his unwavering support of Malaysian football. “We are deeply grateful to His Royal Highness for his continued concern and assistance in FAM’s efforts to improve the performance of the Harimau Malaya squad,” he said.

With the increased budget and the steadfast support of the government and other key figures, FAM is optimistic about the future of Malaysian football. The move highlights a strategic focus on building a more dynamic and competitive Harimau Malaya, capable of bringing pride to the nation on the global stage.

FAM reiterated its commitment to utilizing the allocation responsibly, ensuring the funds contribute directly to the growth and success of Malaysian football.

“Once again, we thank the Prime Minister for his belief in the potential of Malaysian football. This is a significant step toward achieving our shared vision for Harimau Malaya,” Tan Sri Hamidin concluded.

This announcement represents not just financial support but a symbol of national confidence in the role of football as a unifying and inspiring force for Malaysia.
