Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has officially confirmed that the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has approved a Stay of Execution application involving seven Harimau Malaya players, providing a major boost to Malaysian football at both national and club levels.
In a statement released today, FAM announced that CAS has granted temporary relief to Facundo Garcés, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, João Figueiredo, Gabriel Palmero, Jon Irazabal and Héctor Hevel, effectively suspending the enforcement of sanctions previously imposed by FIFA.
With this decision, the 12-month suspension from all football-related activities handed down by FIFA has been temporarily put on hold, allowing all seven players to continue their professional careers and participate in matches, training sessions and official competitions.
Crucially, the players are now eligible to represent their clubs and the Malaysia national team, pending the final outcome of the appeal process at CAS.
This development comes as a significant relief for Harimau Malaya, as the players remain important assets in Malaysia’s ongoing preparations for upcoming international competitions. The stay will remain in effect until CAS delivers its final ruling on the appeal.
FAM reiterated its commitment to fully cooperate with the legal process and expressed confidence in ensuring that the interests of Malaysian football are protected throughout the proceedings.
