Ali Majrashi, defender of Al Ahli Saudi Arabia, will miss the final match of the AFC Champions League Elite 2025/26 after the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) confirmed a three-match suspension following his red card in the match against Johor Darul Ta’Zim in the quarter-final.
The incident took place in Jeddah on 17 April 2026, where Majrashi was sent off in the 37th minute for serious foul play against Jairo Da Silva.
Crucially, the AFC ruling confirms that Ali Hassan M Majrashi will miss the AFC Champions League Elite Final, delivering a significant blow to Al-Ahli.
The breakdown of his suspension includes One automatic suspension from the red card, One additional match ban — applied to the final against Vissel Kobe, and Two further matches carried forward to future AFC competitions
In addition, he has been fined USD2,000, payable within 30 days.
Majrashi’s absence in the final is a major concern for Al-Ahli Saudi, particularly given his role in defensive stability.
Losing a starting defender at such a critical stage could force tactical reshuffles, especially against a technically strong opponent like Vissel Kobe.
His dismissal against JDT not only impacted the match itself but now carries lasting consequences at the most decisive moment of the tournament.
The AFC’s ruling reinforces its zero-tolerance approach to dangerous play and misconduct, especially in elite competitions where player safety is paramount.
While Al-Ahli were also fined for team misconduct (USD7,000), it is Majrashi’s red card that remains the defining turning point in the disciplinary case.
