Thailand’s rising mixed doubles pairing Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran were forced to withdraw from the final of the Badminton Asia Championships 2026, handing them the silver medal after an impressive run in the tournament.
The world No. 3 duo had been set to face South Korea’s Kim Jae-Hyeon and Jang Ha-Na in the championship match scheduled for April 12. However, tournament organizers confirmed via Badminton Asia that the Thai pair had withdrawn due to injury.
Dechapol and Supissara had earlier delivered one of the tournament’s biggest shocks in the semi-finals by defeating world No. 1 Chinese duo Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping of China.
The victory propelled the Thai partnership into the final and raised hopes of a major continental title.
Despite their strong momentum, the pair ultimately had to pull out before the title match after sustaining an injury. As a result, they were officially awarded the silver medal, while the Korean duo claimed the championship.
At the time of the announcement, no further details regarding the nature or severity of the injury had been disclosed.
