Bangkok United, a club from Thailand earned 3 points and nearly to advance to the next round after beating Lee Man FC, a club from Hong Kong scoring 4-1 in the AFC Champions League Two 2024/25 at Thammasat Stadium, Bangkok.
The match opened with intense offensive pressure from Bangkok United. Mahmoud Eid nearly opened the scoring in the 21st minute, forcing a sharp save from Lee Man’s goalkeeper Leung Hing Kit, who managed to deflect Eid’s header from a Zivkovic cross.
Leung continued his heroics minutes later, stopping a powerful left-footed shot from Bassel Jradi and witnessing Zivkovic’s free-kick narrowly miss the target.
Despite Bangkok United’s dominance, they couldn’t find the back of the net and paid the price just before halftime.
Lee Man’s Wong Wai set up Samuel Rosa, who, after cutting inside from the right, fired a shot from 25 yards. The ball deflected off teammate Everton Camargo, wrong-footing Bangkok’s keeper, Patiwat Khammai, and putting Lee Man up 1-0.
Bangkok United’s response after halftime was relentless. Their persistence paid off midway through the second half when Nitipong Selanon found space behind Lee Man’s defense, setting up Zivkovic, who calmly slotted the ball home to level the score. Zivkovic then assisted Wanchai minutes later, with the substitute smashing in a first-time shot to put Bangkok United ahead.
The floodgates opened as Al Ghassani extended the lead, threading his shot past Leung to make it 3-1. In the final moments, Zivkovic scored his second, slipping the ball beyond Leung in stoppage time to seal the 4-1 victory.
With this win, Bangkok United is on the verge of advancing to the last 16, while Lee Man FC’s loss confirmed their elimination from the tournament.
