Maverick Viñales stole the spotlight on Sunday morning at the Americas GP 2024, topping the time sheets in the warm-up session ahead of Marc Marquez and Raul Fernandez. Viñales continued his strong form at the Circuit of The Americas, setting the stage for a potentially record-breaking race day.
Marc Marquez, known as the “King of COTA,” was close behind, just 0.176 seconds off Viñales’ pace, and looked determined to add another win to his impressive tally at this track. Raul Fernandez rounded out the top three, impressing with the Trackhouse Racing machine ahead of the team’s home race.
Jorge Martin finished the session in fourth, while Alex Marquez came in fifth, both aiming to improve their positions in the main race. Reigning World Champion Francesco Bagnaia had a quieter session, finishing 15th, and last year’s winner, Alex Rins, also struggled to make an impact in 16th.
With Viñales starting from pole position, anticipation is building as the riders prepare for the iconic Americas GP, which will begin at 14:00 local time. Fans around the world are eager to see how the drama unfolds as Viñales seeks to make history on the Austin circuit.
