Negeri Sembilan FC revenged and advanced to the quarter-final round after beating PDRM FC scoring 3-0 in the Unifi Piala Malaysia 2024/25 round of 16 second leg at Stadium MPS, Selayang.
NSFC, three-time Malaysia Cup champions, began the match with determination. Their relentless pressure paid off early when an unfortunate own goal by PDRM’s Eizrul Ashraf in the eighth minute handed NSFC the lead, setting the tone for a dominant display.
Eight minutes into the second half, Hadin Azman doubled NSFC’s advantage. Combining brilliantly with Japanese playmaker Takumi Sasaki, Hadin showcased composure and precision to finish the move, putting the Deer squad ahead on aggregate for the first time in the tie.
Despite PDRM’s attempts to fight back, their hopes were dashed in the 80th minute when A. Selvan capitalized on a defensive lapse to score NSFC’s third goal. This sealed a stylish and emphatic win for K. Nanthakumar’s side, who outplayed their opponents in all aspects of the game.
NSFC’s resilient performance was a testament to their tactical discipline and mental strength. Having lost the first leg 2-1 at Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium, Paroi, last Sunday, the team rallied to overturn the deficit and secure their progression to the quarterfinals.
With their victory over PDRM, Negeri Sembilan FC now awaits the winner of the Round of 16 clash between Terengganu FC and Melaka FC.
