Bangkok United head coach Totchtawan Sripan has declared that his team will give their 100% when they take on Johor Darul Ta’zim in their opening Shopee Cup 2025/26 group stage match at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium tomorrow.
Speaking at the official pre-match press conference alongside midfielder Kyoga Nakamura, Totchtawan stressed the importance of squad rotation and mental resilience in what will be a demanding season for the Thai giants.
“After tough games, we must manage our players well. With the squad we have, I believe we can rotate effectively to compete in all competitions this year,” said Thachatawan.
“Injuries are normal in football, so keeping a balance in player rotation is crucial, as well as recovering mentally. Our recent defeat has not damaged our confidence. Instead, we remain motivated and determined to play every game with full commitment.”
The Bangkok United boss also acknowledged JDT’s quality but insisted that his team would stay true to their identity.
“Each team has its own approach. We can’t suddenly change our style to something complicated or confusing. We will play our way, though JDT’s quality may require some adjustments during the match. Still, we will try to stand firm in our philosophy first.”
Reflecting on the competition itself, he added:
“From last year’s Shopee Cup, it was clear that every team had quality. With new foreign player quotas this season, the tournament has become even stronger and more exciting. We treat this competition with the same importance as our domestic league and the AFC Champions League.”
Singapore international Kyoga Nakamura expressed his excitement at facing one of Southeast Asia’s top clubs.
“I’m really looking forward to playing against JDT, one of the strongest teams in ASEAN. It’s also exciting to test myself against such high-quality players, and I’ll do my best for the team.”
The highly anticipated JDT vs Bangkok United Shopee Cup clash will take place on Thursday, 25 September, at the Sultan Ibrahim Stadium, with kick-off scheduled for 5:30 pm.
